Windmill Nursery has been serving the Carmichael / Sacramento Area for 13 years. Opening in March of 1996, our family owned and operated full service nursery and gift shop has kept the same goals in mind. We pride ourselves on our quality, selection, and service and most important, our detailed knowledge. We specialize in hard to find perennials (from: Annie’s Annuals, Blooms, Monterey Bay, and more), shrubs, and water plants, as well as a full selection of bedding, shrubs, trees, fertilizers, and water gardening supplies (ask us about keeping your pond crystal clear).
Drawing from our inner Spring soul, we sought after many aspects of our gardener's world and are able to provide you with the finest garden giftshop in town. The garden giftshop offers house plants that will bring the outdoors in; exotic orchids, silk flowers that even we have to excuse ourselves from mistaking their true identity at times; vases, furniture, fountains, and so much more! Again this list could go on and on... but you'll spend less time driving here. Once again we promise that your experience here will leave you knowledgeable and most of all happy to have stepped into Windmill Nursery.
We have expanded and transformed much of our demonstration gardens by recently adding three new Gardens; a Cold Hardy Tropical Oasis, soon to be finished, is a little taste of Wine Country with our Tuscan Getaway, and our new Water Feature Gardens. Our outside renovation this winter transformed the whole Nursery. The new layout dramatically increases accessibility providing a more pleasant shopping experience along with a new expanded Japanese Maple display area, and expansion to our already large Perennial & Color display area. Windmill nursery personel are always helpful with any questions I have regarding gardening. Recently I had questions about the type of tree to plant in my front yard. The person I spoke to was extremely polite and gave me all the time I needed. Very good variety of plants throughout the nursery to choose from.

Plants are fresh, not pot bound, and they are generally the newer varieties. Most of Sacto garden centers go with the "boring old stuff". Not Windmill. Great signage with helpful tips on how and where to plant!

My husband and I shop at Windmill frequently. We've purchased many of the trees and other plants in our yard and garden from Windmill. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and we always enjoy our trips to the nursery. It is smaller than some of the big-box types, and that is refreshing because of the treatment we receive when we walk in, and the quality of all of the plants themselves.

This nursery is a welcome change in this area from the big box stores. It is the only nursery I have walked into that the employees say hello and ask what they can help you with.
