I was very blessed to dance for 18 years and teach for 5 years at Encore! Studio of Performing Arts. The lessons I learned with Miss Lisa go beyond a pirouette and a jazz box. I learned how to shine on a stage, be the star of a show (regardless of whether you're the lead or a dancer in the corps), and (I feel) an inspiration to others.
Miss Lisa has the amazing gift of finding a child's best qualities and bringing those qualities to the foreground. I will never forget the joy and pride I felt playing all of the character roles that I was able to master through hard work, devotion and cooperation with others.
There is no teaching staff like the one at Encore! I will gladly admit my bias, being a former instructor. You see, the teachers at Encore! build self-esteem, technique, a healthy balance of team-dependence and independence, and a love for the arts. Not just anyone Encore! Miss Lisa only hires and continues employment for the best of the best. (I honestly believe that parents would gladly agree with me! :) )
When you enter Encore!'s doors, it's like being welcomed home. The classroom are bright, the music is fun, and the classes themselves are uplifting. Where else can your 2-3 year old go and learn how to be a butterfly, be introduced to musical instruments and concepts, all the while building the notion that dreams come true?!
My time at Encore! was invaluable. I would still be there today if I had not decided to pursue a teaching career in a school environment. I now teach first grade (and love it!), but every day is an opportunity to introduce the love of the arts that I developed growing up at Encore! Not a day goes by that I don't use a piece of advice or a life lesson that I learned at Encore!
It's more than a dance studio. It's a family, a second home, and, for me, a way of life.
I will never be able to thank Miss Lisa and Encore! for all of the wonderful things that she (and they) has (have) taught me over the years.
Someday, I hope to be blessed with a family of my own. As my second set of parents, Miss Lisa and her wonderful husband, Mr. Jim will be at my wedding. And from day one, my husband and I will be bringing our little one will be dancing at Encore!
But until all of that takes place, THANK YOU, Miss Lisa and Encore! for everything!

I used to work for French Cuff Consignment. . .The owners are fabulous and friendly and not a day would go by that I wouldn't find another "must-have" item. The shop is conveniently located on the J-Street walk and you have to shop at French Cuff to really treasure fashion--if you haven't been already, you're missing out! If I didn't love teaching so much, I think I would still be working there--who doesn't love a warm environment (especially when there's clothing involved?!?!?) ~Kristin
