Sutter Ridge Vineyards and Winery was established in 1988 by John L. Bree, a fourth generation California grape grower. Today Sutter Ridge Vineyards and Winery is a family affair as John H and Gretchen, John L's son and daughter and their families, have joined the business. Sutter Ridge Vineyards and Winery has a wide assortment of varieties, comprising of approximately 170 acres. The vineyard is located in the Sutter Foothills of California at an elevation of 2,000 ft. While occasionally reaching 100+ degrees Fahrenheit, our high temperatures are typically in the 90's. The soils are composed of a rich sandy clay loam mixed with cobble stones and the Delta breezes throughout the summer months help make this a mild climate. Sutter Ridge Vineyards and Winery strives to maintain a crop load of no more than 5 tons per acre. Sutter Ridge Vineyards and Winery believes that the combination of the great micro-climate, soils, and cultural practices make for a high quality grape.
We are members of their wine club and love every bottle we have received. We always take visitors to the area to Sutter Ridge which is one of our favorite winteries.
Velvety smooth wines of the most interesting varieties such as the Pinotage. If you want to enjoy a deep rich red wine with a steak, this is it....try the Pinotage.
Also, if you have not visited the Winery lately, now you can enjoy a round of Bacchi Ball...what fun!
Can't think of a nicer way to spend some time at one of the most picturesque vineyards in the Sierra Nevada foothills....Five Stars for Sutter Ridge Vineyards and Winery !!!

My first visit to the winery was very pleasant. Havent been to many wineries in my day and wanted to know a bit more about wines. Mostly how certain foods go with certain wines and why? The friendly and courteous staff spent much time with me explaining this and also how the wines were made and the process. During my tour of the winery, I never knew how much love and work went into making great wine. When tasting, my favorite was the Sutter Ridge Port. This surprised me, as I was never a Port fan before. It has the most unique "smooth" taste and I have since introduced this port to many friends. Its one of my favorite gifts to give. I continue to return to the winery and enjoy the wines, picnic area, bocce ball courts, gorgeous scenery and their historical landmark. The rements of a stone structure where imigrants resided in the 1800's is a must see!
Their wines are incredible. I truly enjoy their Chardonnay, which is crisp na slightly fruity, not too much oak. And all their reds, especially the Italian varietals, are full bodied, full flavored, smooth, great taste on the front and back end, and really nice after taste. And, you should try their Pinotage. This is what a Pinot Noir would like to group up to be. Cheers!
What a great place! Absolutely terrific wine, they serve an unusual wine called Pinotage a variety from South Africa. It, as well as the other wines they have are a wine lovers treat! Great customer service. They have a picnic area, with bocce ball courts and views to die for!Their tasting room is rustic and charming with lots of wine related gifts! I would highly recommend visiting.
