Constructed in 1919 in the style of 18th Century Italian buildings as a silent film theatre, the Sutter Creek Theatre today is a complete multipurpose entertainment center that hosts events year-round. Award winning music concerts, theatre, film, dance, and special events, in an intimate setting with excellent acoustics and sight lines assures a memorable experience. Located in the heart of the Amador County wine country, Sutter Creek, the best preserved western town in California, is only 45 minutes from Sacramento or Stockton.
This is just a wonderful little theatre with a very nice mix of entertainment. Not every event appeals to every audiance, but everyone will appreciate the effort to please audiances of every performance. The friendly staff recognize the historical significance of this venue and their ability to draw talent from the larger areas to perform in the intimate theatre is a job to behold. After a shwo I always find myself wonering why I do not attend more performances here. You can't beat the value either. Tickets are more than reasonable, which allows you to sample events you might not otherwise consider. Make an effort to see the Christmas season performances. It is a throwback to a happier, simpler time. Impossible not to enjoy.
My family and I have attended various plays and musical presentations at the theatre over the past years and have always enjoyed everything about it. It is so quaint and sometimes you even know the people in the plays, so it makes it even more fun. There is a strong Thesbian crowd up here in the foothills, along with great restaurants and site seeing. Worth the drive.
Everytime we have been to a concert at the Sutter Creek Theatre we have enjoyed excellent music! The seating is somewhat limited but that just makes it more fun. And, we can see the performers up close, not a football field length away.
The owner's of the theatre always make it a point to chat with us and the performers are approachable and very friendly. We have always been made to feel that our attendance is welcome and appreciated.
Sutter Creek itself is a wonderful little town so, there is plenty to do before and after a show.
It's a drive, but one of the most intimate, enjoyable venues in the Sacramento region. All the seats are better than most of the expensive seats in Davis.
