I love this store. Of course I own it so why wouldn't I? I try to create a friendly place to buy comics and games.

I don't care if you already have a comic store that you frequent. You need to try River City.
I called this place about a month ago and requested that they hold a few titles for me that would be coming out the next day. The man on the phone had no problem doing so and was setting them aside as we spoke.
When I came in the next day, part of me was scared that my books had been misplaced or sold as many other comic stores would do, especially when they have never met the person that requested them. The owner, Joe, was behind the counter and the moment I said my name he produced my stack of books. Impressed, I started to look around a bit more. The back-stock he had was great and appropriately priced. I couldn't find a speck of dust in the whole place. And the whole time I was walking around Joe kept a casual conversation going with me. It turns out that he has a subscription program, and will hold any books you'd like for you AND give you a discount :)
Even then I thought I still may try out one of the stores closer to my home (Elk Grove to Natomas is a bit far.) Alas, I have started my subscription with Joe. There were 2 main reasons I decided to commit.
1) I called frantically looking for a comic that no other store around even ordered, and Joe had a few copies of it. He happily held it for me, and even asked if I wanted ALL of the copies haha I guess he could hear the frantic-ness in my voice!
2) The second time I came into the store he remembered my name and even struck up a nice conversation with my little sister and her upcoming birthday.
The point is, this guy knows his stuff and he is a REAL full time owner. He has some friends that help him out when it gets busy, but Joe is always there. I really respect that in a business owner, and THAT is worth my 20 minute drive :)

If you like comics, games, magic, whatever it is in the gaming dept... go there first... better prices.. more selection and friendly and very cool staff and owners.

An excellent Friendly Local Game Store, River City Comics & Games is one of the stores I wish I had more time to play games and more money to buy the comics and games they sell!
Joe knows his stuff and the customer service is excellent, as I wrote up in Knights of the Dinner Table. Take it from a knight, you'll be treated like royalty.

An amazing store run by very wonderful people. I go mostly for the the trading cards and games but a well stocked amazing selection of comics and everything.
