We're one of the largest record/vinyl shops in Northern California. We have 3,550 square feet of floor space (mostly vinyl) and over 3,550 square feet of storage space (our basement).
We've been in business since 1972. We have many rare and collectible records in stock and get more in all the time. We also carry CDs, DVDs, VHS, posters, memorabilia and more.
Records is awesome i spent a lot of time there in high school hanging out and shopping, but you dont have to have sentimental attachement to know why its special
records has been around for so long, and during high school was always a great place to hang out and all the staff are amazing. they have a great selection, great prices and is a part of some of my best years in sacto!
'Records' is the best record store in Sacramento not only because of their seemingly limitless wealth of rare, strange and hard to find records--but also because every facet of the place is bursting at the seems with history and character. The basement alone is so stocked with century-old magazines, newspapers and collectible memorabilia that trying to keep track of it all would have you busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. While it needs some serious help with organization, Records is effortlessly a pure cultural experience and Sacramento should be proud of it, to say the least.
I love Records on K very much. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, and they have a great selection. I like to spend some time in there and dig around, and I've found some real gems. I listen to a good deal of hard-to-find punk, and I'm always surprised to find rare punk bands in Records. I actually bought my first record ever there, and I've remained faithful ever since. Not to mention, the prices are always great.
Of course anything Kevin has anything to do with is fantastic and records has a great variety of indie, 60's-80's, pop and new wave, punk, rock n' roll, northern soul, etc. Thanks for keeping record listening alive and well! <3
I know the entire Hartmann Family and borrowed equipment for my first ever dj gig from Ed, and even had Kevin Help me! I have always been able to find what I need, and don't, in the most relaxed of settings. from obscure spoken word and military speach 78's to whatever was going on in present day. It is a privilege to be allowed access to this plethora of fine things in their vast archive, and I definitely believe we need this place, it's like going to a temple, a music one. Worship It!

They have the most selection of any kind of music and other genre. The people who work there are very helpful and will go out of their way to find what you are looking for. They are the only place in Sacramento with such a wide variety of collective, rare stuff.
