Great little place to see great independent films and documentaries and live bands...just make sure to bring a great plump cushion for your ass, seeing as those chairs are not suitable for everybody's culo.........

They are bleeding heart liberals...I am a republican and I still love 'em!

The films shown at Shiny are truly independent, non-corporate productions with passionately argued or developed work.

The films are fantastic and can appeal to multiple genres and ages. I have seen documentaries, cult films, and even budget-indie stuff you can't find on any other big screen. The crowd can be impulsive, but I can't think of a more entertaining way to spend a Friday night (or Sunday afternoon). Its also inexpensive and located in Midtown, so there are more things to go do when the shows over!

The movies are awesome!!! The films can appeal to most genres including documentaries, cult classics, and important issues relative to anyone that cares about the world around them. The location is near many other recreational points of interest in Sacramento. The crowd can be impulsive, but the engery they draw is refreshing in a time when most people just don't care.

Innovative, particularly adding the guest speakers . . . undergroundSFO feel to it. . . owners come across as very sincere in what they are trying to accomplish

Glorious, lush, enchanting, illuminating, edifying indie cinema art house films.....most of their films never get picked up by the biggie indie distributors - so this is a rare chance to puruse exotic, rare offbeat indie films you won't see at The Crest or Tower Theatre.

Support a Fair Trade local MIDTOWN
NGO - the coolest audience in the world...who knows you may meet the love of your life amongst the kindred spirits in the audience. Come early to hang out and meet the audience, snacks, beverage and drinks are sold - socialize, nosh, flirt and engage in wholseome recreation.

The folks who run Shiny Object/Fools Foundation are incredibly sweet and real "Movement People"!

The only place to see the movies the big guys don't want you to see. Plus some simply excellent old films that are no longer "profitable" for mainstream theaters.

They tell it like it is. No flash and fly in the pan. Just plain Jane

They show amazing films (like Orwell Rolls in his Grave) that you can't see anywhere else in the city!

The projects and shows that Shiny Objects/Fools Foundation runs are amazing! The Varsity and the Crest are truly independent, locally owned and operated. Three great movie houses that care about local events!

It's atmospheric, with thought-provoking, entertaining selections. Community is built through participatory events, and best of all cheap! A great place to go.

They are the ONLY theater in Sacto showing independent and alternative cinema--the kind that would never make it to regular theaters because they are too raw and too interesting. Each kind of movie has its place; it's great that there is now a place for more radical movies in Sacto.
