McBean Perk owners Fred and Vicki Muñoz are obsessed with coffee. From the painstaking roasting process to an Italian espresso machine that reportedly cost more than her first home, it's clear the couple from Lincoln have beans on the brain. "I can't remember the last time we went to the movies or even read a novel," Vicki said. "Everything we've read for the past two years has been about coffee." After a careful brewing, the Muñoz's turned their love of java into the McBean Perk Coffeehouse & Roastery, across the street from Lincoln's McBean Park. The newly opened café is one of only a few dozen in the Sacramento region that serves up steaming cups of caffeine made from specialty beans freshly roasted on the premises. The Muñoz's were sitting in a little café on Maui, sipping a Kona blend and gazing out over the ocean, when the idea of opening their own place began to percolate. The coffee fiends' mutual addiction has been a hobby of sorts for the past 15 years, ever since they were newlyweds. "It's our 'thing.' We search for the tiny, cute, neighborhood coffeehouses wherever we go."
I no longer live in Lincoln but was in town today and I stopped by. It has been a little over a year since I was there last. I ordered my usual white mocha w/whip. It was YUMMY! Just as I remembered it when I use to come in. And my daughter loved the muffin she got...she wouldn't even share with me.
Let me tell ya...Starbuck's doesn't even make a white mocha like you do. Yours is just sweet and comforting:) FANTASTIC JOB McBean Perk!!
One of the best cups of freshly roasted, fine quality coffee in all of Sacramento. Beautiful store with plentiful parking. Also, I love the relaxed atmosphere inside the store which encourages you to relax and enjoy just how special the coffee really is!
The iced drinks are GREAT because they make their ice cubes out of decaffeinated coffee, so there is no "watered-down" taste. The people there are also very friendly.
