Cooking homemade Italian food is a rich part of our family history. It all began with the recipes our grandmother Mary Fazio served in the "shack". Mary Fazio was born in New York City to immigrants of Ischia, Italy, a small island just west of Naples. In 1959, Mary took her own pots and pans from home, $700 savings and a passion for great Italian food to start Mary's Pizza Shack and the restaurant became an instant success. "I love my customers," she would say. "I want to take care of them. I guess I just love people." Mary proved that everywhere she went. At grocery stores and local shops, she was notorious for scribbling her signature on a napkin for locals and friends, valid for a free pizza. Mary's Pizza Shack operates 18 locations, based on Mary Fazio's original recipes, traditions, quality food and passion. Signature items include "baseball sized" meatballs, pesto bread sticks, salads, linguini with clams, gnocchi, homemade soups and desserts and of course the legendary pizza!
My hubby and I own a restaurant in Roseville and were excited to try the new pizza place in town. The decor was great, the ambiance was nice, and the fries were delicious, but we really didn't like the pizza! We are pizza people, so we just can't go to a pizza place without good pizza no matter how pretty it is. Sorry Mary's!
Our first experience at Mary's Pizza Shack was in Dixon and it was the best pizza we had ever had. We have since had pizza at Mary's in Sonoma, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Anderson and Roseville. The pizza has consistently been the best. The crust is light and fresh and the sauce tastes fresh and homemade, not like the fast food pizza joints. We are so excited there is now a Mary's in Roseville and we no longer go anywhere else!
I just love thier pizza! I grew up in Sonoma where the orginal Mary's Pizza Shack was opened. I even knew Mary personally and she always gave me free pizzas when I was a teenager.
Their food is made with the kind of love your mom puts into dinner.
I grew up in Sonoma and ate at Mary's first pizzaria as a child. Our relationship spans over 40 years and I have never had better pizza! It is a family place where we just took our first grandchild. The starter salad is so wonderful and different I get it every time I go. Love it Love it Love it! Thanks for coming to Roseville!
For over 25 years, our family has vistied Mary's on the way home from a day trip to San Francisco or elsewhere. The service is wonderful, food is definitely homestyle Italian and the pizza is always wonderful. A plus: the All Meat pizza is never greasy. It is nice to know that I can go to a family restaurant with an ecclectic selection of classics and enjoy a wonderful dining experience.
