Madrona Vineyards takes its name from the majestic old madrone tree which still stands in the middle of the vineyard. The warm days and cool nights of the historic El Dorado grape-growing region have proven to produce fruit with excellent balance and intense varietal character. At an elevation of 3,000 feet (one of the highest vineyards in California), it can truly claim the distinction of offering mountain-grown wines.
Located in the heart of Apple Hill, we invite you to come in and taste our estate grown wines. Our tasting room is open daily from 11 to 5. Make a day of it, bring a picnic lunch!
Madrona has a large selection of wines both white, red and dessert. Their staff is knowledgeable about the wines. The wine maker or owners are there most of the time. The wines are consistently good across the board.. And you can't beat the price.

With a charming winery in the beautiful foothills, with exceptional wines. Especially good is the Zinfandel. They are friendly and helpful, and have wonderfully fun events.
They have the best wines in the region, the staff knowledgeable and courteous. Their wine has little to no bitter aftertaste, and it is as wonderful with the first glass as it is with the last with each bottle.
They are never too busy to answer questions, their winery offers events different from many others (dinners in the vineyard), and they do a terrific job of sending wines to those of us who have moved to Southern California.
