Culinary tradition in Afghanistan is the reflection of the country's ethnic and cultural diversity. It is as rich as its history. Ingredients from different cultures include; spices, mint and yogurt and pasta. The everyday diet of Afghans is mainly determined by the vast variety of crops in the region such as wheat, rice, com and barley. Afghans rely on grain as the staple of their diet, using up to 20 varieties of rice. Other food basics include beef, lamb, chicken, bread( the most common bread is naan), cheese, eggs, mast ( a tart yogurt), nuts such as pistachios and almonds, numerous fruits, vegetables, and tea.
