Dobra Zemlja (pronounced: dobra zem-ya) means "Good Earth"
in Croatian. The winery was founded in 1995 and is situated
in Amador County's historic Shenandoah Valley just off Hwy 49
and Hwy 16.
The winery and tasting room is housed in a restored late-19th
century facility, complete with wine cave. This provides a perfect
environment for tasting our wines. The shaded picnic area is a
good place to drink our wine as well; or the wine of our Amador
winery neighbors (if you must).
Dobra Zemlja specializes in Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese, Barbera
and Viognier. We are a small winery making only the BIGGEST
Amadors!
Dobra Zemlja wines rock! I love there big bold wines............no where in Napa even compares. Milan, Victoria. Norina and Mike are always so welcoming and happy to see their wine groupies. It's always a great time when you visit Dobra Zemlja, and drink their outstanding wine!
This is a wonderful winery, all wines are excellento! , the staff is always friendly and willing to please. We are club members and have never had a dull moment here. Wonderful picnic area with a great pond. Milan and his wife and family are fantastic friendly people . We refill our jugs every time and my husband plays with the band on occasion when they let him..haha!!!! What happens at Dobra stays at Dobra;>)
Unbeatable wines. I echo the comments about the Milan Ruz, and love their Syrah, Barbera and Zin. Come to think of it, there isn't much I DON'T like about Dobra Z, except that I don't live closer to it. Also an unbeatable place for a picnic.
We love Amador county reds, and Dobra has the best! The cellar, owners, wines and tasting room are fun and unique. (And the original artwork is GREAT!) For anyone nervous about wine snobbery, try Dobra. For example, just try to beat their Milan Ruz table red, sold in a refillable jug!
I love this winery. It is the best. It has great wine and the picnic area is the best. It is great for re-filling your jug of Milan Ruz. The people there are amazing and friendly they really know what they are talking about. I love you guys.
Definately a "must" to go to of the foothill wineries. Milan and his staff are great, friendly, knowledable people. We are fans of re-filling our Dobra "jugs". Our whole neighborhood quaffs down this delightful red wine as it is readily available at our Sierra cabin in Strawberry (Twin Bridges). Of course, being an alum of El Camino High doesn't hurt making this winery a good gathering place to meet up with friends. Thanks Milan! See ya soon - B&B Miner
One of our true favorites, great people and even better wine! Milan's Zin and Barbera are fabulous and they have pointed out new wineries in the area for us to try!
Hi I am Anthony, Drummer for the Knucklehead band. I am also a club member. I love this place it is the best winnery I have been to in the area. They always make you feel like family. Keep up the great work and get that Viognier finished. My wife really wants some. :-)
