The California Automobile Museum provides a history tour on wheels in a spacious 72,000 sq. ft. facility. More than 150 vehicles are on display, many of them privately owned, and range from the earliest models of the 20th century to prototypes of alterna ... show moretive energy for the 21st century. There are cars—and memories---for anyone who appreciates every decade in between, from the Model T and tailfins to the Brass Era or the speed of racing.
Originally known as the Towe Ford Museum, the Museum began operation in 1987 by housing what was then one of the largest personal collections of Fords outside of Dearborn, MI. In subsequent years, the Towe family auctioned many of the cars in its collection. As a result, the museum broadened its scope by including cars from other manufacturers and increasing its focus on education. At the time of the auction, the Museum was renamed the Towe Auto Museum. In 2009, the name was formally changed to the California Automobile Museum, reflecting the breadth of its programs.
The mission of the California Automobile Museum is to educate and entertain while preserving and promoting the automobile and its influence on our lives.

It's also a great place to learn and appreciate how the automobile changed America and the world.

The Auto Museum has accumulated a significant collection of antique and classic vehicles. Each vehicle's history is described in detail on placards near the vehicle. For historical interest or just nostalgia of the great autos, the CAM can't be beat!

An amazing resource for Sacramento. I've been to the California Auto Museum twice this month - once with my daughter and once with my Dad. The museum has friendly, informative docents and an amazing selection of cars and car parts. Take your time and cruise the many rows of mint automobiles showing innovation, design and imagination. Be sure to check out the Woody station wagon, Corvettes, the Ford Model T and the old-time rail car. There are plenty of classic to contemporary examples of great engineering. If you have kids, they'll love seeing cars that are reminiscent of Pixar's "Cars" movie.

A wonderful asset to our City. Not just a static museum but a living moving piece of history that everyone can see and enjoy to what ever level they wish. The resources and events educational opportunities there are second to none, and the folks that run the museum are very passionate about every detail. I support CAM at every opportunity that I get.
