Voting Home / Beauty / BEST Barber / 2010 Top 5 Slideshow
Winner (#1)
I know the general public doesn't read this side bar but I'm hoping the management of KCRA will. I only congratulate the winners this year. I knew eventually others would finally get the drift of this whole contest. Like in Politics, It's not who is best at whatever category, it's the best vote getter.
I do however have to bring up some very legitimate concerns passed on to me by my customers this year.
I sent both KCRA and the third party A-List folks my concerns but of course they could care less about us businesses and just shined me on.
I was contacted by approximately 40-50 customers this year via e-mail, phone or in person about the voting system mess they encountered when they tried to vote. They all complained about the convoluted, complicated voting process. Almost everyone of them told me they just gave up in disgust.
I know how to fix this. It's easy. Each year after the results are in, KCRA needs to demand that the third party A-List company completely wipe out their data banks of information from the public and start the next year clean with a simple vote. They could re-ask everyone for their e-mail address to address the multiple voting concerns that way.
A lot of them were clearly suspicious of what that third party company was doing with their e-mail addresses also.
I want to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me. I really do appreciate your loyalty and your business all these years. It's hard to believe I've been in business here now for over 33 years and been cutting hair for over 40 years. That makes a lot of you pretty OLD also........"^)
In these modern times the Barber Shop still is the place where men and some women come to relax, hang their worries on the hat rack for a bit, kick back and enjoy some humor and have some intelligent conversation with like minded souls. Also a place to get a great naturaly cut, long lasting haircut without a gallon of overpriced product capable of holding the hair in place in a full blown hurricane. I also think it's one of the last bastions of a completely free speech arena. A place where you can talk about anything and say anything you want without the bullshit of political correctness unfortunately so prevalent in these times.
So wherever you get your haircut, if it's at a regular Barber Shop by a real Barber trained at a Barber Collage, thank the guy or gal cutting your hair. They probably are a dying breed of professionals. They started out on the forefront of the art of cutting hair and are now slipping into the past with a lot of other wonderful things we all will come to miss. Like the rest of the world the McHaircut places located in McWallmart will probably eventually win the contest.
Until then frequent your local Barber Shop, keep them in business for as long as possible and give them a huge THANK YOU!, along with a giant tip........."^)
The history of Paul The Barber
One chair shop in Newcastle California. Over 40 years of experience in quality, precision wash and wear haircuts.
Are you tired of the high prices and nonsense at the fancy, phony joints? Most people are. Rediscover what it's like to get a real haircut from a real old fashioned Barber. A Barber trained at a Barber Collage. Not a women's beauty collage, where they learn to color and perm hair instead of the fine art of giving great haircuts. Haircuts that last, instead of only looking good the day the "stylist" dumps enough hair spray on to hold a truck in place.
If you just want a great long lasting haircut, that you can handle without a gallon of overpriced junk products, come on in. No appointments necessary. An inhouse paperback lending library and always fresh Jazz in the air.
Men, Women and Children. Beard trims a specialty and free with a haircut. Really bad jokes supplied at no charge.
My specialties in addition to great haircuts are leach Application, Bloodletting and Brain Surgery.
VERY reasonable prices makes the drive up the hill worth it even with the rip off gas prices. See what you look like with a great haircut for once.
I also do repair jobs on those crappy haircuts you got at the phony overpriced "Styling Salons" and at the McHaircut places pretending to be Barbers, when they are actually just beauticians, in the big cities.
New feature for my regular, repeat, loyal customers. If you have lost your job or have been laid off, you now get the "retired" price of $10.00 until this crazy economy gets back to normal.
Who says there is no good news nowadays?
Looks like we've again put Newcastle on the map for those down the hill who have never heard of it. As we who live and work here in heaven understand, it's uniqueness is apparent to anyone who takes the time to come off the freeway on the way to Reno and beyond. Can you imagine a town nowadays with NO fast food restaurants at all? Only friendly folks with great haircuts and great attitudes. Friendly shops who actually care about their customers and clients and go out of their way to please and delight everyone who comes to our little "Gem of the Foothills" to shop and visit.
Again, I thank you and watch for my new prices, reflecting my Kingdom status......."^)
In fact if you mention seeing this on the KCRA website and you look wealthy, the price is $47.23 Plus generous tip, of course..
