Unlike the new antique malls located out in the suburbs next to big box stores this shop has history! The building itself has been around for decades and is filled with all manner of nooks and crannies that are fascinating to walk through. And just being near the lovely, historic homes of East Sacramento puts me in the mood to go antique shopping!
This is the kind of place I bring my girlfriends and make a day of it, we shop, we lunch, we shop some more. There are a number of other antique shops very close by along with a terrific restaurant!
I guess because there are so many dealers in one place you can find just about whatever you're looking for: from Bakelite to Bauer, from rhinestone jewelry to fine jewelry, from cocktail dresses to alligator shoes this place is fabulous!

Half of the booths in 57th street mall have brand new items you can buy from catalogs. I can't even believe they call it an antique mall!

I like unusual whimsical things for my home... I don't want the "it" thing that everyone else has. Most of my favorite things have been found while going through the seemingly endless amounts of things at 57th street. I have an antique eye chart, a 1940's water district map, a giant wooden hand... Just cool stuff. I can spend hours there.

There's always something I have to have whether it's something for the house, something to wear - cool vintage clothing & jewelry - or just something totally amazing I have never seen before... I have to keep going back - over & over & over...
